“ Gilbert Howard Walsh told my dad in 1967 that William Walsh was born in Dublin, Ireland and that he had a brother Thomas who left home at 15 years of age. It seems Thomas’ wherebouts were unknown for quite some time but eventually he had something to do with diamond mines in South Africa and discovered the hope diamond, eventually owned by Evelyn Walsh McLane”
