Anna was born in Rochester N.Y. when her father moved to obtain work @ The Rochester Cotton Mills...and the family stayed here till the Mill closed in 1902, and then the family moved to Adams Massachusetts. The Wholahan family must have been very close to Michael & Sarah Gooney, ( Sarah was Tom's sister).
..................In 1905 Thomas Wholahan Died in Adams Mass...........................
In 1906 Anna came to live with her Aunt, her Fathers sister, Sarah.
Sarah provided a home for the Wholahans when their "Evil" Stepmother refused to give them a home in Adams Mass. after their Father Died in 1905. So Anna 15, Sadie 12 & Francis 11 came to live with Aunt Sarah on Galusha Street.

When did Electricity come to most homes in Rochester New York
I called RGE they said .....Public Relatrions Dept.724-8883
724-8725........Energy Questions
The said: " most homes in Rochester had Electricity by 1920"
" It was 1879 that the first electric arc was demonstrated as a source of light at the Paris Exposition. Later that year, Thomas Edison developed a " hot-wire in a bottle" light. A year later the Rochester Electric & Light Company was formed. By 1883, Rochester had 52 electric street lights. Hoever, it would be quite a few years before electric lights reached most of the homes & farms."
